Ötztal nature park
This 135 m2 interactive nature park exhibition is located at 2,670 m in the basement of the Hohen Mut Alm. One look is enough to feel the omnipresent theme of "glaciers". The visual impressions are cleverly linked in the exhibition with information on glacier research and the high-alpine flora and fauna. In our farm shop we offer all our products from our own production: - Soft cheese made from raw goat's milk - from mid December 2023- semi-hard cheese made from raw goat's milk (matured for at least 3 month in the rock cellar)- Hard cheese made from raw goats's milk (matured in the rock cellar for at least 6 months)- Goaswurzn (smoked sausages) - bacon - from spring 2024- Homemade apricot jam- Homemade elderberry jelly- Homemade elderberry syrup - Honey from Obergurgl and the Ötztal valley- Breatl chips from the Fiegl bakery in Huben (Längenfeld)- Defregger mustard - Homemade pasta from Gries - Various products from the sheep wool centre in Umhausen (skins, felt baskets etc.) Visits are possible with prior arrangement via phone.

Piccard-Denkmal

The Piccard Memorial, which was erected in 1989, reminds of the emergency landing of Professor Auguste Piccard at the Gurgler Ferner glacier on 27 May 1931. The news of his rescue was published in newspapers all over the world. A festschrift is available at the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl information office.
