The black (difficult) mountain tour is more likely a "dark red" trail, except for a single stretch secured with steel ropes. Therefore it's perfectly suitable for surefooted hikers with good stamina. At the start you can take a hiking taxi up to Fiegl's Gasthaus (1956 m) in Windachtal. Here you shoulder your backpack for the first time, pacing yourself for approximately 800 altitude meters. The path leads over the roaring waters of Windache, steeply climbing through a nice-smelling pine forest up to the tree line, across high Alpine plateaus and stone fields to a ridge where you can admire Sölden on the valley floor for the first time. Brunnenkogelhaus (2738 m) seems only a stone's throw away, clinging to the top of Brunnenkogel ridge in a quite exposed location.
After all these fabulous views you are strongly recommended to enjoy some of the delicious dumplings. Eagerly waiting for the descent to Sölden via Brunnenbergalm (1972 m). As more altitude meters are conquered on the downhill section, ascent and descent walking times are roughly the same. You should calculate about 5 to 6 hours of walking time.
Special tip: You can also spend the night at Brunnenkogelhaus and enjoy a truly privileged place to watch the sunrise in the early morning.
