The trail starts in Vent at the top station of the Gampen tow lift, turning right. A steep ascent leads through a beautiful stone pine forest to Mutsbühl (2,340 m), where you can admire the rich flora. From Mutsbühl, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of Wildspitze (3,768 m), Weißkugel (3,739 m), and Similaun (3,606 m).Walking time: 1 1/2 h to Mutsbühl, 3 h for the round trip.

Vent’s Widum, described by Johann Stüdl as “the coziest base for high-altitude tourists,” was at the heart of this development.Franz Senn—pastor and innkeeper, fearless mountaineer, and progressive advocate of the Alps—became the driving force behind this movement.Today, the new Widum in Vent serves as an information center for Ötztal Tourism and hosts an exhibition by the Ötztal Nature Park. Opening Hours: Today: 08:00 - 20:00The mountain farms of Rotte Rofen, often called Rofenhöfe, are located at an altitude of 2,014 m and about one kilometre to the west and 114 metres higher than Vent in the Ötztal Alps. Like Vent itself, the farms form part of the municipality of Sölden in the Ötztal.The Rofenhöfe are the highest, year-round farmsteads in Austria (2014 m). The Gasthof Rofenhof is open (highseason, restday in summer on monday, restday in winter on sunday).
A very beautiful but somewhat steep hike. Start in the direction of the Martin Busch Hut, then turn right at the first hill and pass through mountain pine forests to reach the Ochsenkopf. Past the Hohler Stein, a hunting base of Ötzi, the Iceman. From there, continue in switchbacks up to the Hörnle. At the summit, you’ll find a small summit cross and a stamping point for the Ötztal Hiking Badge. Enjoy a stunning view of Vent, the highest three-thousanders such as Wildspitze (3,768 m), Ramolkogel (3,427 m), Spiegelkogel (3,424 m), and many more, as well as the Stubai Alps. Walking time: 1 1/2 h - 2 h.
