Glacier Austria

Snow-sure & spectacular

In Sölden the ski season is already kicked off in late September. And only ends in late April or at the beginning of May, when spring has already returned to the valley. How so? The Sölden glacier ski area, consisting of the two Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers, makes it possible! Covering some 20 km², the snow-sure area at altitudes between 2675 and 3250 meters is one of Austria’s largest glacier ski regions.

Top-notch glacier skiing

The Sölden glacier ski area boasts a total of 34.3 slope kilometers. There are 25 kilometers of blue slopes, 5.4 kilometers of red slopes and almost 4 kilometers of black slopes. In short: All skill levels will find their favorite downhill run. 8 mountain lifts are available for comfy uphill rides: 3 mountain gondolas, 1 chair lift and 4 T-bar lifts.

The area also promises a unique glacier experience: ski rental options, expert sports shops and restaurants inspire the early (and late) birds by offering full service. In autumn or spring, you can easily reach the skiers’ paradise along the panoramic Ötztal Glacier Road (toll-free for holders of a valid skipass).

HERE you can find all facts and details about Sölden‘s glacier ski area and skipass prices in autumn.

Memorable experiences: ski tunnel & viewing platforms

If you want to switch from Rettenbach Glacier to Tiefenbach Glacier, you don't have to take off your skis or snowboard. On the contrary: The two glaciers in Ötztal are connected by a spectacular ski tunnel. Wow moments are guaranteed!

The two viewing platforms, BIG3 panorama footpath at Tiefenbachkogl (3250 meters) and BIG3 natural platform at Schwarze Schneide (3340 meters), are equally spectacular. They are both located in the glacier ski area, offering great views of the majestic Ötztal mountains. The platform at Schwarze Schneide is the highest point that can be reached in the entire Sölden ski area. What a breathtaking panorama!

Here you can learn more about the BIG3 viewing platforms.
